This Policy explains which cookies and similar technologies the Smakota website uses and how you can control them. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Browser storage (localStorage) works in a similar way. These technologies are either strictly necessary — the site or a feature cannot work without them, so no consent is required — or optional (analytics, advertising), which may be used only with your consent.
What Smakota uses today
The Site runs without unnecessary cookies. The language is taken from the page address (for example /en/, /es/, /de/ or /pt-br/), not from a cookie. Below is everything that may be stored in your browser: the strictly necessary first, then analytics and advertising.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
smakota-rated-… | localStorage | Remembers that you have already rated a recipe so you are not asked again. | Until you clear the site’s data |
smakota-saved, smakota-recent | localStorage | Your saved recipes ♡ and recently viewed dishes (recipe numbers only) for the “My recipes” page. Only the recipe numbers are sent to the server to show their cards — nothing that identifies you. | Until you clear the site’s data or press “Clear history” |
smakota-timers-…, smakota-steps-…, smakota-cook-… | sessionStorage | Timers, completed steps and cook mode, so they survive a page reload. Never sent to the server. | Until the tab is closed |
smakota-pages-…, smakota-saved-pages, smakota-images | Cache Storage (service worker) | Copies of pages you opened or saved ♡ and their photos, so recipes open without internet. Never sent to the server. | Up to 60 pages and 150 photos; saved ones until removed |
smakota-pantry, smakota-menu, smakota-menu-checked, smakota-units | localStorage | Your products on the “What to cook” page, your weekly menu, ticks in its shopping list and the measuring units you chose in recipes. | Until you clear the site’s data |
wordpress_logged_in_…, wordpress_sec_…, wordpress_test_cookie | Cookie | Only for editors who sign in to the admin area: sign-in and session security. | Session or up to 14 days (“Remember me”) |
wp-settings-…, wp-settings-time-… | Cookie | Only for editors: admin interface preferences. | Up to 1 year |
_lscache_vary | Cookie | Only for signed-in users: serves them a fresh, uncached version of pages. | Session |
Analytics and advertising
These cookies are set only where there is a lawful basis for them: in the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland after you consent in Google’s message, elsewhere by default and with the option to opt out.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga, _ga_… | Google Analytics 4 | Tells visitors apart so visit statistics can be counted. | 2 years |
__gads, __gpi, __eoi | Google AdSense | Serving ads, frequency capping, fraud protection. | 13 months |
IDE, test_cookie | Google (doubleclick.net) | Measuring ad performance. | 13 months / 15 minutes |
FCNEC | Google (consent message) | Remembers your consent choice. | 13 months |
VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE, YSC, __Secure-YEC | YouTube (Google) | The recipe video. The player loads only after you press play — until then the page makes no request to YouTube at all. | Up to 8 months / session |
You can change or withdraw consent at any time through “Privacy choices” at the bottom of every page.
Managing cookies
You can view and delete cookies and site data, or block them, in your browser settings: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge. Blocking strictly necessary technologies may stop some features (such as recipe ratings) from working properly.
